2nd in Class!
Howdy all,
One Lap number 8 is officially in the books! We placed second in class behind the very fast BMW 135 and ahead of the VW GTI of Reg and Bill. This was probably one of the best One Laps I have been a part of. Not because of the organization or scoring, as there were a few issues, but because of the great people participating in the event. We were able to spend time with old friends and left with many new friends.
The competition in our class was very tight between 2nd, 3rd and 4th. We were all fighting for 2nd and were pretty close all the way until the last day. The 4th place Miata had a DNF, which really hurt its chances, otherwise they would have been in the thick of it. At the end of the week the battle came down to the 2 GTI's, ours and Reg and Bill's. We were swapping positions all week long and this made for a very entertaining and interesting week. Reg and Bill are great guys, even though they will deny this, and we really enjoyed beating...I mean competing with them! We finished the event strong with a 2nd in class at the 2nd event at BeaveRun and a 1st in class at the autocross. Then we also placed 2nd in class in the Skid Pad to lock in the second place finish.
As always the wheels are already turning as we start to plan our attack on next years event! After all, there are only 51 weeks left until the 2009 One Lap.
