Well, the A-Team is home again. I am finally updating the blog. For those of you who have been following this, our last update had us still in Oklahoma. After several trips back and forth to Tulsa at 10:00 pm Wednesday we were back underway. There was not enough time to catch up at Virginia so we headed to Beaver Run Pennsylvania. We arrived there at about 1:00 am Friday. Managed to have a pretty good day of racing at Beaver Run and actually got some points on the board. Then it was off to passage control in Ohio. That went good as well. Loaded up again and set out for the finish in South Bend. Approximately 200 hundred miles from South Bend there was an all too familiar sound coming from the car… yep you guessed it, it was a repeat of the problem we had in Oklahoma. We were able to baby it the last 200 miles at 50mph. Once at the hotel in South Bend we thought ….. no problem we will just do the skid pad in the morning and will have finished. Quite literally as we were being congratulated By Brock at the Tire Rack for finishing we had to push the car into the line up for the picture. Gordon told Brock we did not want another DNF and asked if we could do the skid pad in reverse, He agreed and that is what we did. At least we finished with style.
Even with all the problems we encountered we had the time of our lives. We have made some great new friends and accomplished something very few can say they have done. We can’t wait to get back and do it again next year. It would be easy to sit here licking our wounds and not get out there and run with the big dogs. But, that wouldn’t be our style. For all the problems we have had, we have worked out so many more. This car was untested and unproven; it was run for the first time ever in South Bend. For the most part everything worked great. Part of our job as a sponsored car is research and development for those products and I think we have identified a glitch with this one and are confident that it is being worked out. We cant wait to get out there and do this again.
Thanks to the whole One Lap family for continuing the fantastic event. We look forward to running with big dogs again and shedding our Lap puppy status.
